In the picturesque town of Karlovac, a carefully curated blend of culture, science, nature and relaxed socialising awaits you – perfect for school groups. We’ll begin our walk in the historic old town centre, where we’ll discover the fascinating history of this town, known for its unique star-shaped layout and numerous parks. Karlovac lies on the banks of four rivers – the Kolpa (Kupa), Korana, Mrežnica and Dobra – which gives it a distinctive natural character and offers numerous opportunities for outdoor learning.
The town is also linked to one of the greatest scientists of all time, Nikola Tesla, who spent part of his schooling here. We will visit the modern Nikola Tesla Experience Centre, where interactive content, experiments and innovative presentations encourage curiosity, teamwork and creative thinking among pupils.
After lunch, we will continue our exploration of nature at Aquatika – a freshwater aquarium where we will discover the diverse world of rivers and their inhabitants. There are over 100 species of fish on display, including some that grow to human size.
We will round off the day on the River Kolpa with a trip on a replica of a traditional grain barge, where we will also treat ourselves to something sweet during the cruise.
